Appeal a decision

Appeal a QCAA initial RTO registration or performance assessment

School RTOs who are not satisfied with an initial RTO registration or performance assessment decision made by QCAA as delegate for ASQA can ask the QCAA VET team to reassess a decision.

An appeal in this instance is considered a request for reassessment as outlined below.

Request for reassessment of a QCAA regulatory decision

What situations does this apply to?

A request for reassessment must directly relate to a situation where QCAA has identified issues for the school RTO to address.

This includes the following situations:

  • making a decision to change the RTO’s scope of registration
  • making a decision on initial RTO registration
  • making a decision on performance assessment

As part of the reassessment process, QCAA will consider new evidence provided by applicants to demonstrate that the identified issues have been addressed.

Who should make the request?

The principal (Chief Executive) or RTO manager (registration enquiries officer) as listed on Training.gov.au must make the request.

How long does it take for the request to be finalised?

QCAA endeavours to complete the reassessment process in a timely manner. It may take up to 90 days and varies according to the volume of evidence reassessed.

The school RTO will receive written notice of the reassessment decision and the reasons for this decision within 30 days of the decision being made.

Please contact the Manager - QCE and QCIA Unit if you wish to apply for a reassessment of a decision at vet@qcaa.qld.edu.au.
