Australian Curriculum review

Australian Curriculum Version 9.0

On 1 April 2022, Commonwealth, State and Territory Education Ministers endorsed the revised version of the P–10 Australian Curriculum, Version 9.0.

The Australian Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Authority (ACARA) will publish the revised curriculum on their website in Term 2, 2022.

Implementation of the Australian Curriculum Version 9.0 in Queensland

The Queensland Minister for Education will advise of further decisions on implementation of Version 9.0 of the P–10 Australian Curriculum following consultation with Queensland stakeholders. These messages will be communicated to schools by the QCAA and the three school sectors.

The QCAA is committed to providing support for schools and teachers to effectively implement the Australian Curriculum in Queensland including the provision of advice, resources and professional learning aligned to Queensland’s approach to implementation.

Continued implementation of Version 8.4

In 2021, the Queensland Minister for Education advised that Queensland schools should continue to use Version 8.4 of the P–10 Australian Curriculum in 2022. This remains the current advice.

This approach will allow the QCAA and schooling sectors to:

  • review resourcing requirements ahead of implementation of Version 9.0 of the Australian Curriculum
  • formalise an implementation timeline
  • rollout a professional development strategy
  • develop resources to support teaching and learning in primary and secondary schools.

This information was outlined to Queensland schools in memo 050/21: Implementation of the revised P–10 Australian Curriculum (PDF, 145.7 KB), (22 October 2021).
