Queensland Comparable Assessment Tasks (QCATs 2009-2012)

The QCATs were introduced in 2009 under the Queensland Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Framework. They were annual standards-based assessments in English, Mathematics and Science that:

  • engaged students in Years 4, 6 and 9 in assessment tasks that value higher order thinking skills

  • provided evidence of students' understanding and skills in relation to the Australian Curriculum content descriptions and achievement standards

  • supported teachers in making consistent judgments about students' work using moderation processes

  • provided teachers with information about student achievement with a focus for future teaching and learning.

The final year that QCATs were administered was 30 June 2012.
