Syllabus implementation

The Queensland Curriculum and Assessment Authority (QCAA) supports schools and approved education providers to implement Queensland syllabuses.

We provide information about syllabus content and purpose through resources and professional development services.

For more information about syllabus implementation, see Section 4.4.1 of the QCE and QCIA policy and procedures handbook.

For advice on implementing a senior syllabus, contact the relevant Principal Education Officer.

Associated material

Syllabus implementation is assisted with associated material. Associated material accompanies and complements the syllabus by providing essential information relevant to the syllabus such as:

  • prescribed text lists
  • formula and data booklets
  • calculator lists.

Cognitive verb framework

Cognitive verbs are words that represent the mental operations students are expected to learn, perform and demonstrate. Cognitive verbs are used in QCAA syllabuses for senior subjects.

The Cognitive verb framework applies to all syllabuses from 2024 onwards.

A factsheet helps you understand and apply cognitive verbs in syllabuses.

Supporting materials

Subject-specific resources help schools and education providers implement syllabuses. Access these resources in the Syllabus application in the QCAA Portal.
