Kindergarten services create transition statements in the Kindergarten Transition Statement application (KTS app) in the QCAA Portal.
The KTS app supports:
- the provision of consistent information to parents/carers and schools about children’s learning and development aligned to the QKLG
- kindergarten teachers to effectively create and, with consent, share transition statements with schools.
Accessing and managing the KTS app
The process for kindergartens to access the KTS app is outlined below:
To access the KTS app, kindergarten services must nominate at least two access administrators. Administrators are responsible for ensuring only approved staff have access to the KTS app. This involves reviewing accounts, updating assigned roles and revoking roles.

Creating and sharing transition statements
In accordance with Queensland's privacy laws, parents/carers must complete Transition statement consent form 1 before a kindergarten can enter a child’s personal details into the KTS app. The kindergarten service should retain a copy of the consent form with the transition statement for three years after the child has exited the service.
Consent to create a transition statement is only required when using the KTS app. If consent has not been obtained, use the Queensland kindergarten transition statement template.
Kindergarten teachers use the KTS app to create transition statements from a strengths-based perspective to:
- describe children’s learning and development
- identify strategies to support children’s continuity of learning and their transition to school.
Watch the following video for more information:
Before submitting a transition statement in the KTS app, parents/carers read their child’s draft transition statement and may:
- amend or contribute further perspectives on transition to school
- ask for any incorrect personal information to be amended
- provide written permission for the kindergarten to share the transition statement with the child’s school by completing Transition statement consent form 2.
The kindergarten service should retain a copy of the consent form with the transition statement for three years after the child has exited the service.
Kindergartens provide parents/carers a copy of their child's submitted transition statement.
