Access arrangements and reasonable adjustments (AARA) in senior schooling

The QCAA recognises that some students undertaking senior school studies may have disability, impairment, and/or medical conditions, or may be impacted by illness or other circumstances outside of their control.

When access and participation in assessment is adversely affected, access arrangements and reasonable adjustments (AARA) may be applied so that students are able to demonstrate what they have learnt during their studies on the same basis as their peers.

Student eligibility for AARA falls within three main categories:

  • long-term and chronic conditions
  • short-term conditions and temporary injuries
  • illness and misadventure.
