The QCAA employs and trains assessors to help develop and quality assure the new QCE system’s internal and external assessment.
There are four assessor roles:
- QCAA assessor (endorsement)
 - QCAA assessor (confirmation)
 - QCAA assessor (external assessment writing)
 - QCAA assessor (external assessment marking).

Being a QCAA assessor:
- helps teachers improve their knowledge of the new QCE system, including its curriculum, assessment, and quality assurance practices
 - provides teachers with professional and career development opportunities, including enabling them to earn CPD credits across a range of Australian Professional Standards for Teachers focus areas, including: 
- 2.3 Curriculum, assessment and reporting
 - 5.1 Assess student learning
 - 5.3 Make consistent and comparable judgements
 - 7.1 Meet professional ethics and responsibilities
 - 7.2 Comply with legislative, administrative and organisational requirements.

Having QCAA assessors on staff:
- gives schools greater knowledge of the new QCE system, including its curriculum, assessment, and quality assurance processes
 - provides schools with a shared understanding of assessment design and instrument-specific marking guides
 - increases schools’ capacity for building internal quality assurance processes and teams
 - supports schools to improve assessment judgments and report accurate provisional results to the QCAA
