External assessment invigilators

Invigilators help maintain public confidence in the Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE) system. They ensure external assessments are administered fairly and properly.

About the role

The Queensland Curriculum and Assessment Authority (QCAA) appoints community members to observe and report on the assessment administration.

Invigilator work independently to supervise proper administration of the assessments. They do not supervise students or help with any administration or assessment set-up tasks.

Applications for 2026

Applications for 2026 invigilator positions will open 13 July and close 9 August 2026.

We are primarily seeking invigilators in regional, rural and remote areas of Queensland.

Applications from South-East Queensland may be considered if additional coverage is required.

External assessments will be administered between Monday 26 October to Tuesday 17 November 2026.

How to apply

Step 1: Read the requirements

Step 2: Get your blue card

You need either:

  • a paid blue card from Blue Card Services
  • current Queensland College of Teachers (QCT) registration details (if you are a teacher).

Step 3: Check your QCAA Portal account

If you have a QCAA Portal account:

  • Have your blue card, exemption card or QCT registration details ready.
  • Log in to the QCAA Portal.

To register for an account, choose the registration option that best describes your current situation:

Step 4: Submit your application

Submit your application through the Assessor Jobs app in the QCAA Portal.

You will receive a confirmation email when you have submitted your application.

What happens next?

If you are appointed, we will email you appointment information in August or September 2026.

If you are unsuccessful, we will notify you by email.
