Adult student subject registration form: Senior External Examination (SEE)

The following information is about implementation of General (Senior External Examination (SEE)) subjects in 2024.

Who needs to apply?

You should use this form if

  • By the end of 2024 you will be 17 years or older
  • OR, by the end of 2024 you will be less than 17 years of age and have not yet completed Year 12,
    AND have completed an eligibility application, which was:
    • approved earlier this year
    • OR, submitted recently and is pending approval.

How will you be studying?

If you nominate to complete your studies at a teaching centre, you must also sit all your written and spoken (language subjects only) examinations at that teaching centre.

If you nominate to study with a personal tutor/independently, you will need to apply to sit the examination at an alternative examination venue, ('variation to venue').

Subjects and teaching centres

Select the senior external examination subject/s you are registering for, and where you have been studying each subject.

Cost
  • Registrations close: 30 June. The fee is $73.46 per subject.
  • Registrations received after 30 June incur a late registration fee of $120.05 per subject.

Refunds for examination withdrawals

Candidates may withdraw their Senior External Examination registration at any time. QCAA will refund the fees paid, less an administration fee for withdrawals made on or before 29 July 2024. Fees will not be refunded for withdrawals made after this date.

Refunds for medical reasons

Applications for refunds for medical reasons closes one month after the examination date. The application must be supported by a medical certificate. Email QCAA at externalassessment@qcaa.qld.edu.au about making an application.

  • I have read and understood the QCAA guidelines and examination rules (QCE & QCIA handbook, Section 10.1 External assessment roles and responsibilities — Students) for the QCAA 2024 external examination.
  • I am required to arrange tuition and complete the course/s relevant to the chosen General (Senior External Examination) subjects.
  • Should I nominate to study with a personal tutor/independently, I am required to sit the examination at an alternative examination venue (‘variation to venue’) and as such am responsible for the organisation and costs of venue and supervisor.
  • Spoken responses to examinations will be recorded and used for quality assurance purposes.
  • No alternative arrangements will be made if I fail to attend a scheduled examination for any reason, and that there are no opportunities to re-sit examinations.
  • A result will only be awarded for the subject if I complete all syllabus requirements. For language examinations, this includes spoken and written examinations. For non-language examinations, this includes all papers, e.g. SEE 1 and SEE 2.

The information you provide on this form is being collected and used in relation to the QCAA's functions and powers prescribed under Part 2 of the Education (Queensland Curriculum and Assessment Authority) Act 2014.The information will be accessed by QCAA staff and handled in accordance with the Information Privacy Act 2009. Information held by the QCAA is also subject to the Right to Information Act 2009.
