New Kindergarten research insights

Our latest research insights article, written by Chrystal Whiteford at Queensland University of Technology, explores how everyday experiences can build children’s mathematical understanding.

This article discusses how to:

  • use activities like mealtimes, water play and sand play to build children’s early mathematical understandings
  • intentionally introduce and model mathematical language
  • support children to compare, estimate and problem-solve
  • ask questions and use storytelling to improve children’s understanding of mathematical concepts.

Get ahead by updating your portal access

The start of the year is a perfect opportunity to ensure your staff access and roles are up to date in the Kindergarten Transition Statement (KTS) app. If you’re an Access Management Administrator for your organisation:

  • Log into your QCAA Portal account and complete access administrator tasks, including removing staff who no longer work for you and adding new staff.
  • Confirm which staff require access to the KTS app and that their roles are correctly assigned
  • Seek parent/carer consent to create transition statements in the QCAA Portal.

You can find instructions, tips and guidelines to support you with these updates on our transition statements webpages.

We are reviewing and updating the QCAA website to better support school and kindergarten communities. Our aim is to refresh the content and improve usability and accessibility.
