Food & Nutrition General Senior Syllabus 2019: Syllabus amendment notice

Notice 018/18

Amendments have been made to the Food & Nutrition General Senior Syllabus 2019.

Summative internal assessment 1: Examination

Assessment objectives 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 7 have been modified to be consistent with syllabus and unit objectives.

Assessment objectives 6 and 8 are not assessed in this instrument.

The specifications and conditions of the examination have been amended to better describe assessment requirements.

The instrument-specific marking guide has been amended to align with the modified objectives.

Summative internal assessment 2: Project — folio

Assessment objectives 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7 have been modified to be consistent with syllabus and unit objectives.

The assessable evidence has been modified to be consistent with summative internal assessment 3.

References to ‘design’ have been replaced with ‘solution requirements from the brief’.

The instrument-specific marking guide has been amended to align with the modified objectives. It has also been amended to replace ‘credible’ with ‘feasible’ to better describe the evidence required.

Assessment objective 1 has been modified to be consistent with syllabus and unit objectives.

References to ‘design’ have been replaced with ‘solution requirements from the brief’.

External assessment: Examination

Assessment objectives 1 and 5 have been modified to be consistent with syllabus and unit objectives.

Assessment objectives 6 and 8 are not assessed in this instrument.

The specifications and conditions of the task have been amended to better describe assessment requirements.

Unit descriptions

The Notional hours table in the Unit descriptions has been amended to indicate that the assessment is integrated in the unit.

Subject matter

Subject matter has been modified as follows:

  • In Units 1 and 3 the terms ‘sustainability’, ‘waste management’ and ‘protection’ are now referred to as ‘principles’.
  • Units 1 and 3 subject matter has been refined to improve clarity, including the use of the terminology ‘-based foods’.

Unit 2 assessment guidance

The assessment guidance now recommends an Examination rather than an Extended response — analytical exposition.

Reporting standards

A–E reporting standards have been amended to align with subjects in the Technologies learning area:

  • In the C standard, ‘credible’ has been replaced with ‘feasible’.

Glossary

Glossary terms have been updated to align with other subjects in the Technologies learning area.
