English as an Additional Language General Senior Syllabus 2019: Syllabus amendment notice

Amendments have been made to the English as an Additional Language General Senior Syllabus 2019.

Summative internal assessment 1 (IA1): Examination — analytical written response

The instrument-specific marking guide has been amended. In the Knowledge application criterion, ‘two’ has been added to Assessment objective 5 to match the wording of the assessment objective for the unit.

In the Textual features criterion, ‘and’ has replaced ‘and/or’ in the third characteristic in the 1-mark performance level descriptor.

Summative internal assessment 2 (IA2): Extended response — persuasive written response

The instrument-specific marking guide has been amended. In the Organisation and development criterion, ‘established’ has been added to the first characteristic in the 2-mark performance level descriptor.

In the Textual features criterion, ‘and’ has replaced ‘and/or’ in the third characteristic in the 1-mark performance level descriptor.

Summative internal assessment 3 (IA3): Extended response — imaginative spoken/multimodal response

The instrument-specific marking guide has been amended. In the Organisation and development criterion, ‘established’ has been added to the first characteristic in the 2-mark performance level descriptor.

Minor amendments have been made to Assessment objective 11 to improve clarity, strengthen alignment to ISMGs and increase consistency across the English learning area.

Glossary

‘Complementary features’ has been added to the Glossary.
