27 June 2018

Notice 019/18

Amendments have been made to the Essential English Applied Senior Syllabus 2019.

Summative internal assessment 1: Extended response — spoken/signed response

The conditions of the task have been clarified to highlight that students need to demonstrate assessment objective 9 (non-verbal features) in their delivery.

Summative internal assessment 2: Common internal assessment

The specifications have been clarified.

The words ‘in response to stimulus texts’ have been added to assessment objectives 3 and 6.

Definitions for seen and unseen stimulus texts have been added to the glossary to clarify the specifications for this task.

Summative internal assessment 3: Extended response — multimodal response

The conditions of the task have been clarified to establish that this task can be performed live or pre-recorded.

Summative internal assessment 4: Extended response — written response

In the instrument-specific standards, ‘writer’ has replaced ‘speaker’ in the second characteristic in the Organisation and development criterion to reflect the specifications of the extended written response.

The Essential English Applied Senior Syllabus 2019 (v1.1) and associated resources are available in the QCAA Portal. The syllabus is also available on the QCAA website.
