The senior phase of learning — Years 11 and 12 — in Queensland is an exciting time for students.

Students can choose from a wide range of learning options that will help them when they leave school — whether they want to go to university, TAFE or another further education and training provider, take up an apprenticeship or traineeship, or get a job.

Learning options in Years 11 and 12 include:

  • school subjects
  • vocational education and training qualifications
  • school-based apprenticeships and traineeships
  • university subjects
  • recognised subjects and courses
  • learning projects.

With such a wide range of subjects and courses to choose from, students often need help to identify their goals, develop a plan to reach them and keep themselves motivated along the way. As a parent, you can play a crucial role in helping your child with their pathway planning.
