The Queensland kindergarten learning guideline (QKLG) provides advice for planning, interacting with children, monitoring and assessing, and sharing information in kindergarten contexts.
The Continua of learning and development is a resource that helps teachers assess, reflect and make evidence-based judgments about children's learning progress. This information is used to plan ways to promote continuity of children's learning and development.

Towards the end of a kindergarten year, families contribute to and receive a transition statement, which provides a snapshot of each child’s learning and development.
Transition statements include valuable information to:
- identify each child’s strengths and interests
- ensure each child is appropriately supported for a positive start to school.
Parent/carer consent to share transition information
Parents/carers must give their consent for a transition statement to be shared with a child’s Prep teacher and/or other relevant staff at their new school, using the Transition statement consent form.
