This study area specification (SAS) includes a range of practical topics and VET qualifications designed to provide students with an understanding of the world of manufacturing in both public and private sectors.

This SAS offers 3 approaches:

  • Approach AVET certificates CPC10111 Certificate I in Construction, MEM10105 Certificate I in Engineering, LMF10108 Certificate I in Furnishing and/or MSA10107 Certificate I in Manufacturing (Pathways) or MSA20208 Certificate II in Manufacturing Technology
  • Approach B — School-devised course of study over 4 semesters
  • Approach CVET certificate LMF10108 Certificate I in Furnishing over 2 semesters and 2 semesters of units from the school-devised course of study

Study plans

Study plans and AQTF registration

Approach A. Before offering the VET certificates listed in this approach, schools must ensure the courses or qualifications fall within their AQTF scope of registration.

Approach B. Schools must submit a study plan by the end of Term 1 in the first year of teaching the course.

Approach C. Schools delivering Approach C must lodge the documentation required for both Approach A and Approach B.


Designing and evaluating assessment instruments

This advice assists and supports schools with designing and evaluating their assessment program and in implementing the assessment requirements of this syllabus.

Subject–specific advice

This information supports schools in implementing the assessment requirements of the SAS. The advice supports school decision making about the approaches to assessment design and making judgments.
